Film Screening: Lesbians Free Everyone

25 years ago, Lesbians from all over the world arrived at the UN 4th World Conference on Women in Beijing China, and embarked on the biggest lesbian visibility campaign in history. South African queer rights activist Bev Ditsie made history when she became the first openly gay African woman to address the United Nations on the need for sexual orientation protections for women. In 2020, during the global lockdown, Bev Ditsie went online to commemorate with some of the activists from around the world who were behind this campaign. As we commemorate Freedom Day this month, this film asks what freedoms have been gained or stalled for women and queer people.

The film will be followed by a facilitated discussion.
