Away with exclusionary cities

A solidarity expo and launch of occupation diaries created by housing and land activists across Cape Town

As the City of Cape Town ramps up its campaign against land occupations, activists are coming together to stand against exclusionary cities and to imagine a city that caters to the needs of its residents. Using photography, film and performance, activists from 19 occupations across the city will come together to share stories about life in the occupations, strategize on the looming threats of evictions, show solidarity and launch an online story-telling platform called Occupation Diaries – a space where occupiers tell their own stories of occupation life, land (in)justice, lessons, collaborations and how they imagine a radically different city.

Event by invitation only due to to covid – however, a live streamed tour of the expo and discussions will be available on all our social media platforms.
