Mohammed Jameel Abdulla

Mohammed Jameel Abdulla is the Programmes and Communications Manager at Tshisimani Centre for Activist Education. He received his Bachelor of Social Science in Philosophy and Economics before, going on to study African Studies, and completing a Post-Graduate Diploma in Marketing Management – all at the University of Cape Town. He cut his teeth in politics organising with the #RhodesMustFall and #FeesMustFall movements, particularly focused on the use of social media and citizen journalism in platforming and challenging political narratives. He was formally groomed in journalism and social media management at the Daily Vox, a progressive youth news outlet, writing extensively on social movements, youth politics and decolonisation. Before joining Tshisimani he spent two years doing freelance videography and photography exploring South African subaltern contexts. He is passionate about emerging conversations of leftist youth politics and melding popular education methodologies with non-commodifying forms of marketing techniques to develop campaigns for justice. His activism is centred around non-patriarchal forms of community-building, anti-racism, decoloniality and National Consciousness.
