Shakira Qwabe

Shakira Qwabe has a post-graduate diploma in land and agrarian studies from PLAAS and is currently completing her Masters in Southern Urbanism at the African Centre for Cities at UCT. As an activist Shakira has worked in areas of land and housing justice as well as issues around homelessness. Shakira worked for the Tshwane Leadership Foundation for five years before joining Tshisimani. Her work there involved dealing with issues of youth unemployment and a strong focus on advocacy and support for people with no housing. Shakira is an alumni of Tshisimani’s Foundation Course for Activists in 2019. Her research and educational work at Tshisimani focuses on women and land.
